Mount Alvernia Hospital Welcomes Our First National Day 2016 Baby

10 Aug 2016

Weighing a healthy 3.465kg, the SG51 baby girl was delivered naturally.

The baby is the first child for proud parents, Raymond Toh, 39, and Wong Ying Ying, 37. Raymond is self-employed and Ying Ying is working as customer service at nanotechology at FEI. They got married last year in February. Raymond is Singaporean while Ying Ying is Singapore PR.

“We did not expect our baby girl to arrive on National Day. I was at my gynae clinic yesterday for my medical review and my doctor told me I was already dilated. He said I should plan to come into the hospital anytime. We went home to bring my personal belongings and arrive at the delivery suite yesterday around 5pm yesterday. I was feeling excited and at the same time, worried as this is my first baby,” Ying Ying said.

She is full of energy and chatted about getting her little one dresses and ribbons for the hair.

Despite experiencing morning sickness throughout her pregnancy, Ying Ying kept up with her job as a customer service representative and managed with smaller meals. “I was also lucky to have a supportive boss and a friendly work environment. My boss hired a temp staff to job-shadow and helps me cope.”

“We are delighted and thankful that our little girl is finally here in time to celebrate National Day. Best of all, everyone will always remember and celebrate her birthday; countdown and fireworks every year!” said Ying Ying.

“It is with tremendous joy when we deliver a baby into this world. Arriving in time to celebrate our 51st birthday has added significance. In addition to celebrating 51 years of independence, this year marks the beginning of our new chapter as we set forth towards establishing another successful jubilee for Singapore. I wish the little one, mummy and daddy as well as all in the family good health and stay happy always,” said Ms Shirley Tay, Director, Nursing.
