About

Dr Bernard Lee Chee Siang is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon in Singapore. His clinical focus is on the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee, where he manages both sports-related injuries and degenerative joint conditions. He is especially skilled in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, ligament reconstruction, joint preservation, and complex joint replacement procedures. Patients with challenging knee conditions, including multiligament injuries and revision surgery, often seek his expertise.

Dr Lee previously led the Sports, Shoulder & Elbow Service at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (2016–2018), where he was instrumental in establishing specialist units and advancing care standards to meet international benchmarks. He continues to serve as a Visiting Consultant at the hospital and remains active in guiding young surgeons. He also held the position of Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), where he taught and assessed medical students.

After graduating from NUS in 2003, Dr Lee completed postgraduate training in orthopaedic surgery and was admitted as a Member and later Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Orthopaedic Surgery). He also earned a Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery from NUS and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

His career includes extensive international subspecialty training. In Melbourne, Australia, he undertook an Australian Orthopaedic Association–accredited fellowship in complex hip and knee replacement and reconstruction. In New Zealand, he completed comprehensive training in shoulder and elbow surgery, covering arthroscopy, joint replacement, and trauma management. He further strengthened his expertise by obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Sports Medicine from the University of Queensland.

Beyond surgery, Dr Lee is active in education and research. He has published in international journals, contributed a textbook chapter, and serves as a reviewer for medical publications. He regularly instructs at arthroscopy training programmes across the Asia-Pacific region and is involved in postgraduate teaching for orthopaedic trainees in Singapore.

An avid badminton player, Dr Lee believes his sporting background helps him relate to athletes and active individuals who come to him with injuries. His approach combines specialised techniques with personalised care, aiming to help patients return to their daily activities and sports with confidence.
