Background

Dr Kau is a Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Hip and Knee surgery.

His subspecialty interests include hip and knee conditions include managing osteoarthritis, sports, cartilage, meniscus and ligament injuries, fracture care and general orthopaedics. These include injuries of anterior and posterior cruciate ligament, meniscus, cartilage and bone. He treats patients with hip injuries and conditions including hip arthritis, dysplasia and hip fractures.

He is proficient and certified in the use of robotics including MAKOplasty, ROSA Knee System, VELSYS, as well as computer navigation for hip and knee replacements. Dr Kau is a proponent of joint preservation surgery. He is an advocate of partial knee replacement and is well-versed in the Oxford Partial Knee arthroplasty (PKA) system, and is an ASEAN instructor on the Oxford PKA. He uses minimally-invasive surgical techniques to help his patients recover faster and is trained in the Direct Anterior Approach to the hip which allows early recovery in his patients after total hip replacement.

Dr Kau is the founder of OrthoKau Orthopaedic Surgery, a practice with Synergy Orthopaedic Group that is focused on hip, knee, sports, and joint replacement conditions.

Dr Kau was previously a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 2016. He graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his master’s degree there. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award and did his Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction Surgery (Hip and Knee) at Southampton University Hospital, UK.
