About

Dr Gerard Leong is a cardiologist who obtained his MBBS from National University of Singapore in 1994. He subsequently obtained his Royal College of Physicians (UK) membership, Specialist accreditation in Cardiology in Singapore and Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) Fellowship.

He completed the advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship in Massachusetts General Hospital, an affiliate hospital of Harvard Medical School, in Boston USA in 2008.

In 2013, he further underwent clinical and hands-on training in interventional cardiology focusing exclusively on renal sympathetic denervation in resistant hypertension and heart failure in the Alfred, Melbourne Australia.

Dr Leong trained in echocardiography, passing the ASCeXAM, and obtaining his Diplomate certification from the USA National Board of Echocardiography in June 2015.

Dr Gerard Leong is a specialist in cardiology, with subspecialist focus in heart failure, cardiomyopathy, ischemic heart disease, echocardiography imaging, cardio-obstetrics, cardio-oncology and resistant hypertension care, in cardiology.

He had established and led the Changi General Hospital (CGH) Heart Failure Program from 2006 to 2017. This program achieved multiple Joint Commission International (JCI) disease specific certifications during his tenure.

He left for private practice in 2017. He was medical director of Thomson Cardiology Centre in Thomson Medical Centre from 2017-2020. In May 2020, he started Gerard Leong Cardiology Clinic (GLCC). In July 2023, he will be in Mount Alvernia Hospital as part of Straits Specialists Clinic.
