About

Dr Marianne completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Master of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine at the National University of Singapore. Thereafter, she progressed to advanced specialty training in gastroenterology at Singhealth and is an accredited specialist in gastroenterology with more than 10 years of endoscopy experience. She regularly performs endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy for cancer screening, as well as therapeutic interventions to remove polyps or control bleeding.

In addition, her subspecialty focus is on liver disease. She was invited to join Sengkang General Hospital as a specialist in its inaugural year and helped to set up the hepatology service. She was the head of hepatology from 2022–2025, expanding and leading a team of specialists, specialty nurses, research and care coordinators. Having a special interest in palliative hepatology and liver cirrhosis, she further pursued a graduate diploma in palliative medicine and was director of the multidisciplinary liver supportive care programme-PEACE, a pilot programme she established for end-stage liver disease, pioneering a new model of care which has been adopted by other hospitals. She wrote and implemented hospital protocols and served as a committee member in various workgroups for liver disease. Her research interests include fatty liver, palliation in liver disease, liver cirrhosis and its complications. She has participated in several multi-centre research collaborations with competitive grant support. Dr Marianne was actively involved in education and was appointed as Asst Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and NUS Yong Loo Ling School of Medicine. She was also the Site Director, Core Faculty and Clinical Competency Committee member for the Singhealth Gastroenterology Senior Residency Programme. She continues to be a visiting consultant at Sengkang General Hospital.

Dr Marianne’s approach to patient care is guided by empathy and a commitment to improving quality of life for her patients. She believes in personalising treatment plans through shared goals, with patient safety and comfort at the heart of every step.

Outside of work, she enjoys the rich flavours of Peranakan cuisine, reminiscent of her Eurasian heritage. Her happiest moments are spent with family, and she is frequently spotted at playgrounds and swimming pools or getting a caffeine fix.
