He is well-versed in all areas of general and community psychiatry and particularly has specialty training and interest in neurodevelopmental conditions e.g. autism, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual and developmental disabilities. Prior to private practice, he was the Programme Director of the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) national programme and held Head of Department positions in Region and Community Psychiatry, as well as the Adult Neurodevelopmental Service (ANDS) at the Institute of Mental Health.

An active volunteer in the social sector, he serves in the Boards/Management Committees of several Social Service Agencies (SSAs). He is also actively involved in capability building on mental health issues with community partners and started the ID Consultancy and the Assertive Interventions in Developmental Disability (AIDD) Programmes. These are joint projects with the Ministry of Social and Family Services (MSF) providing clinical support and skills training in mental health to Disability Organizations such as Bishan Home, Red Cross Home, MINDSville, St Andrew’s Adult Home and Thye Hwa Kwan Disability Services. Awards he has been given include the Healthcare Humanity Award, Public Administration Medal (Bronze), NHG Outstanding Citizenship Award and Excellence in Action Award.

Well-regarded as a kind and caring doctor, Dr Wei believes in journeying closely with every patient and caregiver through their life challenges, and to empower everyone to reach their best potential in spite of their health or neurodevelopmental difficulties.
