Dr Lim Wei Shyan is Psychiatrist and Medical Director at Alvernia Wellness Centre. After completing his basic medical training at Duke-NUS Medical School, he pursued specialisation in the field of Psychiatry and earned qualification to be a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), as well as accreditation as a specialist in Psychiatry by the Specialist Accreditation Board in Singapore.
Prior to private practice, Dr Lim has served in several government restructured hospitals, including the Institute of Mental Health, Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. During his tour of service, he has acquired experience in managing a variety of psychiatric conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, neurocognitive disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma- and stress-related disorders, and more. He is experienced in performing mental capacity assessments for a broad range of issues as well.
Besides his role in Alvernia Wellness Centre, he also serves as a Visiting Consultant at National University Hospital, where he supports REACH – a child and adolescent mental health service. In addition, he is Visiting Psychiatrist at three nursing homes, where he supports the mental health needs of elderly residents in these institutions.
