Enquiry and Feedback

At Alvernia Wellness Centre, we provide mental wellness services in a stigma-free and supportive environment. From psychiatric evaluations to counselling and therapy, our personalised care is designed to help you navigate life’s complexities with compassion, expertise, and confidence.

During your first visit, our psychiatrist will conduct an initial evaluation to gain a deeper understanding of your concerns and challenges. From there, we will work collaboratively to develop a tailored treatment plan and discuss strategies to support your mental wellness journey.

Treatments and services we offer:

Psychiatric Evaluation

Our comprehensive evaluation involves the following:

  • Clinical Interviews and/or Consultation with Close Contacts

Our psychiatrist will explore your mental health history, present symptoms, and overall state of well-being.

Sometimes, we may seek your permission to gain input from family members or people familiar with your condition. This additional perspective helps us to build a more complete picture of your difficulties.

  • Further Diagnostic Testing

In rare situations, we may recommend additional tests, such as blood tests, brain imaging, or neuropsychological evaluations. These may help us to clarify your diagnosis, and support the mapping of your treatment strategy.
  • Follow-up

Typically, the initial evaluation takes about an hour at your first visit. Complex issues may take longer or more than one session to clarify. At the end of the evaluation, a treatment plan will be formulated and discussed with you, which may include one or more of the following: psychotherapy, medication management, counselling services.

Consultation Fees:
Initial Consultation: $324.82 (inclusive of GST)
Follow-up Session(s): from $109 (inclusive of GST)

Psychotherapy

Our psychologists employ an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches customised to your needs. By blending techniques from different therapeutic approaches, the therapy we provide also adapts to your evolving needs throughout the healing journey.

Therapy Fees:
Per session: $218 (inclusive of GST)

Medication Management

We support you, and if applicable, your caregivers in making informed decisions about medications, by discussing options available to you as well as their potential benefits and side effects.

Counselling Services

We provide individual, couple, and family counselling, as well as pastoral counselling. Where appropriate, we may refer you to an external provider if your needs for specialised counselling are better met by the external provider.

Mental Capacity, and Medical and Legal Assessments

Beyond clinical care, our psychiatrists also perform mental capacity assessments. These specialised assessments include:

  • Evaluation for Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) certification and activation
  • Assessment of deputyship applications
  • Determination of testamentary capacity for will-making
  • Evaluation of parenting capacity in situations involving child protection concerns
  • Assessment of decision-making capacity in various areas, such as:
    – Medical treatment (e.g., transfusions, surgery, transplants)
    – Financial management
    – Placement decisions (e.g. nursing homes)
    – Property transactions (e.g. buying/selling assets)
    – Banking and contractual agreements

Assessment Fees:
Varies according to nature of assessment required. Please contact us to find out more.
