Biography
Dr Gerald Tan is a Urology Specialist who is well known for his expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery and for prostate, kidney and bladder cancers.
Dr Tan has been involved in over 1,500 robotic radical prostatectomies, and was one of the first in Singapore to perform robotic partial nephrectomy for early kidney cancer and robotic radical cystectomy for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Dr Tan is proficient in robotic and advanced laparoscopic procedures, and also performs major cancer and reconstructive surgeries for complex pelvic cancer. Prior to entering private practice, Dr Tan headed the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Robotic Urology Task Force as surgical proctor, and oversaw the development of the hospital’s inpatient-care path for patients undergoing robotic prostatectomy.
Dr Tan has also received numerous top international academic awards and honors, being the named recipient of the prestigious Ferdinand.
His other areas of expertise are in minimally invasive and endoscopic management of urinary stones and prostate diseases.
