About

Dr Ikram Hussain is a Senior Consultant in Gastroenterology who has practiced both in Singapore and the United Kingdom. He is experienced in general endoscopy and managing a wide range of digestive and liver conditions. Dr Hussain is also accredited to perform Advanced Endoscopy techniques such as ERCP, EUS, small bowel enteroscopy, luminal stenting, and cholangioscopy.

Originally from New Delhi, India, Dr Hussain earned his MBBS from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in 2007. He has a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the National University of Singapore and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2011.

Dr Hussain obtained his specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology in 2015. Between 2018 and 2019, he pursued advanced training in Endoscopy at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London (UK), under HMDP Award.

Dr Hussain previously served as a Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Woodlands Health Campus in Singapore. Prior to joining Gutcare, he was working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the University Hospital of North Durham in the UK.

His clinical expertise spans general endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy, as well as Advanced Endoscopy techniques including ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), small bowel enteroscopy, cholangioscopy (Spyglass™), and a variety of stenting. He has been actively involved in emergency endoscopy and gastrointestinal bleed call rosters. He played a key role in delivering comprehensive and seamless care to patients with a wide range of pancreatic and biliary conditions at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

In addition to carrying out both basic and advanced endoscopic procedures, Dr Hussain oversaw the Hepatology Services at the University Hospital of North Durham, where he gained experience in managing a broad spectrum of complex liver conditions, including autoimmune hepatitis, hereditary haemochromatosis, liver cirrhosis, and care before and after liver transplantation.
