About
Dr Jeffrey Tan Gek Meng is a senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon who joined Island Orthopaedics in November 2024. Dr Tan graduated with an MBBS from the National University of Singapore and obtained his postgraduate qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).
Dr Tan specialises in lower limb reconstruction, with a particular focus on foot and ankle surgery. He treats a myriad of conditions, including sports injuries, tendon disorders, flat feet, bunions, arthritis, foot and ankle trauma, complex deformity correction, and various diabetic foot conditions. Dr Tan did his advanced subspecialty training and surgical fellowship at the Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Toronto Western Hospital in Ontario, Canada.
Upon his return, Dr Tan spearheaded and built up the foot and ankle reconstruction and surgery division in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He is particularly interested in various sporting injuries, overuse injuries, military injuries and tendinopathy of the lower limb and foot and ankle. He also continued to improve and develop ankle arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques. Dr Tan shared the high-volume complex workload of orthopaedic trauma and general orthopaedics at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital throughout his tenure.
