Background

Dr Kau is a Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Hip and Knee surgery. Prior to joining Synergy Orthopaedics in 2021, Dr Kau has been practising as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 2016.

His subspecialty interests include unicompartment, as well as total and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. He is well versed in the Oxford Partial Knee Arthoplasty (PKA) system, and is a regional instructor on the Oxford PKA to help train aspiring orthopaedic surgeons. He has presented as an invited speaker at international forums, and is an instructor for arthroplasty at local and regional conferences. As part of a strong orthopaedic department at a tertiary centre, Dr Kau is also proficient in trauma care and general orthopaedics. He is versatile and skilled in fracture care, sports and ligament reconstruction surgery.

He is keen adopter of technology and is proficient in the use of Robotics (MAKOplasty) and Computer Navigation for both hip and knee replacements. He believes in enhanced recovery after surgery, and uses minimally-invasive surgical techniques to help his patients recover faster. He is trained in the Direct Anterior Approach to the hip which can benefit early recovery in his patients after total hip replacement. Dr Kau continues to innovate and has close collaboration with the orthopaedic industry to bring in new technologies to Singapore.
