About

Dr Ng Jing Yu is a fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon with over 15 years of surgical experience. He is proficient in a full spectrum of minimally invasive colorectal procedures, including laparoscopic, robotic-assisted, and advanced transanal surgery. In addition, he has extensive expertise in laser perianal procedures for conditions such as haemorrhoids.

Before entering private practice, Dr Ng served as Senior Consultant and Assistant Professor in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the National University Hospital (NUH). He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2008 and completed his general surgical training at NUH. Awarded the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award, he pursued advanced colorectal fellowship training at Sun Yat Sen Cancer Centre, Taiwan (2019–2020), training in robotic and advanced transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME) techniques. This experience has honed his particular expertise in rectal cancer surgery.

A dedicated educator, Dr Ng has been recognised with multiple NUHS Teaching Excellence Awards (2018–2020) and the prestigious NUS Teaching Excellence Award (2020). He is a lecturer at both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU), and served as an examiner for the final MBBS examinations. He was also Associate Programme Director of the NUH General Surgery Residency Programme and the Colorectal Surgery Fellowship Programme. He continues to contribute as a Visiting Consultant to NUH.

Dr Ng is also active in clinical research, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed surgical journals. He has held leadership roles within professional bodies, including serving on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Colorectal Society, and is a member of the International Society of Laser Proctology (ISOLP) and the Robotic Surgery Society of Singapore (RS3). He continues to organise and lead advanced cadaveric surgical workshops, mentoring the next generation of surgeons in complex minimally invasive techniques.
