About

Dr Ng Zhi Xu is a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon with extensive expertise in spine and brain tumour surgery. He graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2007, and completed his neurosurgical specialist training in 2016. His clinical training at National University Hospital (NUH) and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) laid the foundation for his deep interest and specialisation in spinal and neuro-oncological procedures. Dr Ng enhanced his subspeciality expertise in spine and neuro-oncological surgery through a distinguished one-year clinical fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Following his fellowship, Dr Ng returned to KTPH, where he delivered comprehensive neurosurgical care with a strong emphasis on spinal surgery. He is proficient in both open and minimally invasive techniques for managing a wide range of spinal conditions, including spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal trauma, fractures, and tumours. His surgical expertise encompasses advanced techniques, including spinal fusion procedures (ACDF, TLIF), cervical disc replacement (ADR), and minimally invasive surgeries (MIS), resulting in enhanced recovery and preserving spinal functions.

In addition to his expertise in spine surgery, Dr Ng specialises in treating a diverse array of brain conditions, including tumours (e.g., meningiomas, pituitary tumours, vestibular schwannomas), vascular disorders (e.g., aneurysms, AVMs), hydrocephalus, strokes, and traumatic head injuries. He demonstrates a high level of proficiency in performing craniotomies, neuroendoscopy and endoscopic transphenoidal surgery, stereotactic surgery, and non-invasive Gamma Knife radiosurgery by achieving favourable outcomes consistently.

Throughout his career, Dr Ng has been actively involved in research and has collaborated with institutions including the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) and NUH. In November 2021, he started his own private practice with FeM Surgery, where he continues to deliver advanced, patient-focused neurosurgical care.
