About
Dr Ong Lin Yin is an experienced paediatric surgeon who has dedicated her life and practice to paediatric surgery and urology for the last 20 years. She was a senior consultant and former Head of Department of Paediatric Surgery at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), where she has practiced since 2003.
Besides her vast experience in general paediatric surgery, Dr Ong’s subspeciality interests include paediatric thoracic surgery, oesophageal atresia, bowel management and minimally invasive surgery. She contributed actively to the setup and development of the thoracic and bowel management services in KKH.
As part of her Advanced Specialty Training, Dr Ong completed her fellowship at the renown Hôpital Necker-EnfantesMaladesin Paris, France, under the tutelage of Professor Yann Revillon, a pioneer in Paediatric Thoracic Surgery and a strong proponent of Minimally Invasive Surgery.
While in private practice, Dr Ong continues to serve at KKH and the National University Hospital as a visiting consultant to both Paediatric Surgery departments and is still actively involved in a multi-centre collaboration with local and Malaysian centres on a nurse-led bowel management programme.
As a mother of 2 young boys, one of whom has special needs, Dr Ong understands the concerns and worry that families have when a child is unwell. She recognises that every child is unique and will recommend a management plan most suited to each child and their family.
