About

Dr Roland Chong Weng Wah is an orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in shoulder and elbow conditions. He treats a wide range of upper limb problems, including acromioclavicular joint arthritis and dislocations, fractures, bicep tendon injuries, SLAP tears, golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, sports injuries, trauma, and degenerative joint conditions.

Using advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques, including tendon transfers and joint replacements, Dr Roland focuses on helping patients recover faster and regain long-term function.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and has undergone extensive training in shoulder and upper limb surgery both locally and internationally. In 2011, he received the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Fund (HMDP) Scholarship to train at Royal Perth Hospital, performing complex arthroscopic, revision, trauma, and joint replacement surgeries.

Previously a Consultant Orthopaedic, Shoulder, and Elbow Surgeon at Changi General Hospital, Dr Roland is recognised for his expertise in arthroscopic shoulder surgery and upper limb reconstruction. He is also active in research and medical education, mentoring students and orthopaedic trainees, and contributing to regional training in arthroscopy and shoulder arthroplasty.

An avid cyclist and fitness enthusiast, Dr Roland draws on his personal experience to guide athletes and active individuals. Known affectionately by his patients as “Roland Shoulder,” he is dedicated to helping patients regain mobility, recover from injury, and return to the activities they love.
