About
Dr Ruben Manohara is an orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in shoulder and elbow conditions, sports injuries, and upper limb trauma. With over 20 years of experience, Dr Ruben treats complex fractures, joint degeneration, tendon injuries, and sports- related upper limb conditions using arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques, as well as joint replacement surgery. His approach focuses on early recovery, long- term function, and personalised, evidence-based care.
Dr Ruben completed his medical training at the National University of Singapore and subsequently undertook postgraduate orthopaedic training, becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also undertook a clinical fellowship at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, gaining expertise in complex trauma, upper limb arthroscopy, and joint replacement surgery.
Prior to private practice, Dr Ruben was a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the National University Hospital (NUH), where he served in both the Shoulder & Elbow Division and the Musculoskeletal Trauma Division. He gained extensive experience in managing upper limb arthroscopic surgery, sports injuries, fractures, and joint replacements, and was part of NUH’s hip fracture team that won the Ministry of Health Value-Driven Outcomes Excellence Award.
An advocate of active living, Dr Ruben draws from his own experiences in sports and fitness to relate to his patients’ needs, whether it’s returning to competitive sports, managing repetitive stress injuries, or maintaining mobility with age. He believes in treating patients —not just their scans —and in providing holistic care, empowering them with knowledge about their condition and treatment options.
