Biography
Dr Shirley performs general and oncological urological procedures. These include endoscopic surgery for stone diseases, minimally invasive surgery for urological cancers and treatment of benign prostatic conditions. She did her subspecialty fellowship in three hospitals, namely the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Women’s Hospital and Russells Hall Hospital in the United Kingdom.
During her time in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, she runs a busy tertiary practice and manages both simple and complex urological cases on a daily basis. She is one of only two urologists who runs a weekly Urodynamics and Video Urodynamics session in the hospital. She was instrumental in introducing Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) to the hospital in 2018. PTNS is an effective treatment for overactive bladder (OAB), particularly in patients who do not respond well to medical therapy.
