Dr Tan Ngian Chye graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his general surgical training in 2006, before pursuing sub-specialty training in head & neck ablative surgery through a fellowship in head & neck surgical oncology.. Dr Tan went on to complete another fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan under Professor Wei Fu-Chan and Professor Jeng Seng-Feng. Through his clinical experience and the completion of these fellowships, Dr Tan is well-skilled in both head & neck resection and head & neck oncologic reconstruction.

Dr Tan has more than 20 years of clinical experience in restructured hospitals managing challenging surgical cases. At National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), he was the Clinical Lead for head & neck oncologic reconstruction and skin malignancies. Dr Tan is also Co-Chair of the NCCS Cancer Service Line Development (CSLD) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and Member of the CSLD thyroid cancer and head & neck cancers. In recognition of his exceptional clinical and service contributions, he was awarded the Singapore Health Quality Service Silver Award for 2016/2017 and the Gold Award for 2018/2019.

Dr Tan has co-authored over 50 research papers that are published in top peer reviewed journals such as Oral Oncology, Head & Neck, Surgery, Microsurgery, Cancer and Oncotarget. He also won the SingHealth Publish Award for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015.

Passionate in both innovation and education, Dr Tan is active in medical technology innovation and has won several national competitive grants for this. As the Director of Device Development in Surgery, he mentored and guided clinicians interested in medical technology and have several patents under his name. Dr Tan served as Clinical Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and Program Director of SingHealth General Surgery Residency Program. He was awarded the RISE awards for outstanding teaching faculty in 2017.

Dr Tan accepts referrals for all cancer types, with special clinical interest in nasopharyngeal carcinoma, thyroid, skin and head and neck cancers.
