About

Dr Tay Hin Ngan is an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgeon specialising in endoscopic and robotic approaches for thyroid and head and neck surgery, advanced sinus procedures, and the surgical treatment of sleep apnoea and ENT cancers.

Dr Tay graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Faculty of Medicine and completed his otolaryngology training in Singapore. Under the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) Award, he undertook senior fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York. He subsequently served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre, training in Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery with Professor Carl Snyderman.

Following further training in robotic surgery at Yonsei Severance Hospital in Korea, Dr Tay established the Robotic Head and Neck Surgery Program at Singapore General Hospital, initially focusing on thyroid surgery and later expanding to oropharyngeal procedures and neck dissection for cancer. His clinical experience includes robotic tongue base surgery for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and has been invited to teach robotic thyroidectomy and transoral robotic surgery (TORS) techniques in Malaysia, Korea, and Israel.

Dr Tay is also passionate about teaching and has received the Star Inspiring Surgical Teacher Award and Most Innovative Teacher Award for resident education. He continues to teach Duke-NUS students as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, after leaving his role as Chief of the Head and Neck Service at SGH ENT to establish his private practice.
