Dr Yeow Yuyi, a Specialist Urologist, has established a significant presence in the field of urology, particularly in minimally invasive treatments for stone disease and endourology. His journey in medicine began with a solid foundation at the National University of Singapore, where he completed his medical degree in 2008. Following this, Dr Yeow pursued further specialization, which led to his membership in the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2011. His dedication to urology was further exemplified during his time in the Urology Residency Program under the National Healthcare Group, where he completed his rigorous training in 2017 and earned his specialist accreditation. Prior to his current practice, he was a Consultant in the Department of Urology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr Yeow’s commitment to advancing his expertise took him to San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy, in 2019. There, under the Healthcare Manpower Development Plan scholarship, he focused on honing his skills in advanced endourology and stone surgery with Drs Guido Giusti and Silvia Proietti. This specialized training placed him at the forefront of his field. His procedural proficiency includes the innovative use of supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy and mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy. These techniques, known for their minimally invasive nature, have shown the potential to reduce hospitalization duration and expedite patient recovery. He also has particular interest in the metabolic evaluation and prevention of stone disease to reduce the morbidity and impact of recurrent urinary stones.
Dr Yeow’s excellence in surgical techniques and patient care has been recognized through various accolades. He was conferred the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow) and the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS), both in 2017, acknowledging his significant contributions and expertise in urology.
In his role as a Visiting Consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Dr Yeow offers his expertise in complex stone surgery and laparoscopic management of peritoneal dialysis catheters. His academic roles include serving as a Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a Clinical Teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. As Programme Director of the NHG Urology Residency Program, he has been instrumental in shaping the education and training of future urologists. His dedication to teaching was recognized with the prestigious National Healthcare Group Teaching Award in 2017. Dr Yeow’s scholarly contributions to urology are extensive and include numerous journal articles and book chapters. His role as a reviewer for the European Urology Open Science journal further demonstrates his commitment to the advancement of urological knowledge and practices.”
